Local body elections and Gilgit-Baltistan’s representation in Senate and National Assembly should be ensured immediately, Allama Maqsood Domki

Shiite News: Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, Central Spokesman of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, has said that it is unfortunate to run away from local body elections in democratic times. Why are those who call the local government system the nursery of democracy afraid of local elections? Local bodies are the beauty of democracy, so the federal and provincial governments should announce the schedule of local body elections.

He said that non-scheduling of local body elections was a question mark. He demanded that the schedule of local body elections be announced soon while fulfilling the constitutional requirements. He said that in accordance with Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, righteous and virtuous people should be given the right of public representation in elections at all levels. Corrupt and unrighteous representatives can never serve the country and the nation.

Meanwhile, Allama Maqsood Ali Domki has said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan are patriots and they should be given equal representation in the National Assembly and Senate while being recognized as equal citizens in this country.
