Shia Islamic leaders give 48 hours ultimatum to withdraw FIRs which police registered against peaceful mourners who walked to join main Arbaeen-e-Hussaini or Chehlum Shohda-e-Karbala mourning processions.

The SUC’s Allama Nazir Taqvi, Allama Shabbir Maisami, MWM’s Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi, Allama Nisar Qalandari, Allama Aqeel Moosa, Allama Kamran Abidi and others made this demand at a joint press conference in Karachi.

Aforesaid Shia leader termed it unfair and unacceptable that Sindh government allows political rallies and demos but bans Shia religious gatherings.

They asked PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to take notice of unfair and discriminatory policy of Sindh Home Department and biased IG Sindh Police.

Shia Islamic parties’ leaders lamented that that the Home Department and Sindh Police booked people for offering potable water to azadars and for participating in azadari on chehlum anniversary.

They said that Hussainis would give answer to this biased and discriminatory policy of the PPP government in the municipal elections.

Furthermore, they said they would announce future course of action after end of 48 hours deadline that began today.
