Over 100 arrested in Gilgit City, Nagar besieged for crackdown

Security forces have surrounded Nagar in Gilgit Baltistan after arrest of more than 100 Shia Muslim notables from Gilgit City.
Security forces put Gilgit City under siege and took into custody more than 100 Shia Muslim notables in the name of investigation. Among the arrested persons were officials and members of Markazi Anjuman-e-Imamia Gilgit. Syed Aijaz Kazmi, former office secretary and other senior officials are among them.
Latest reports from Nagar say that whole area was put under siege before a crackdown on the victims of terrorism in Nagar.
Shia organizations have condemned the siege and arrests of the victims of terrorism. It is relevant to note here that Chilas Tragedy has evoked countrywide protest but no action against the terrorists has so far been taken. The inaction on the part of relevant officials also sparked off protest.
It is feared that around 150 passengers were killed by the terrorists because they had gone missing but bodies of a dozen were recovered.
