Shia-Sunni Revolution March reaches Islamabad, sit-in began

ISLAMABAD:  Marching from Lahore for 40 hours, Revolution March of Shia-allied Sunni parties reached Islamabad and began staging sit-in in Pakistan’s capital on Saturday.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, secretary general of leading Shia party Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Allama Aijaz Behishti and other eminent officials were co-leaders together with Allama Dr Tahir ul Qadri of Pakistan Awami Tehrik and Sahibzada Hamid Raza of Sunni Ittehad Council who led the march.

Supporters of the MWM Rawalpindi chapter accorded warm welcome to the leaders of the long march. They showered them with rose petals and raised slogans against the Saudi-backed PMLN government.

Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi of the MWM praised the political wisdom of Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari saying that he truly reflected the sentiments of Shiites of Pakistan. He said that he represented Shia Muslims and Shia considers him as their sole voice in Pakistani politics.
