Moharram begins Sunday and Ashura on September 10

The moon of Moharram-ul-Haram sighted in Pakistan after sunset on Saturday evening. Ashura or 10th Moharram will be on Tuesday September 10.

Notably, Pakistani nation observes mourning in commemoration of martyrs of Karbala and particularly Imam Hussain during Moharram.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that the Hijri year of 1441 as per Islamic lunar calendar has begun.

Furthermore, the committee announced that Muharram, the first month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar will begin from Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Interestingly, both months of Islamic calendar and Roman calendar – Moharram and September – will go together side by side.
