Allama Sajid Naqvi, chief of Shia Ulema Council, has said that protest against unjust policies is democratic right of every citizen but Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri should stage protest rallies on any day of their choice but not on August 14.

“August 14 is Pakistan’s independence day hence all Pakistanis should celebrate the anniversary of independent day instead of protest,” he exhorted at a press conference in Sultan ul Madaris seminary in Khairpur. Allama Shahenshah Naqvi and other eminent Shia scholars were also present.

He said that protest rallies on August 14 could engender instability in the country. However, he said he didn’t foresee imposition of Martial Law in near future.

“PMLN government has right to complete its 5 years term because Constitution of Pakistan says so. However, government should pay attention to its responsibilities, he said.

Allama Naqvi said that political parties should also play their role alongside religious parties to end sectarianism in Pakistan. He said that religious seminaries play key role in preaching Islamic teachings therefore government should register religious seminaries to strengthen their position.
